Rider News | Broc Grabham takes on his First Extreme Event
The rising talent of Bathurst enduro racer Broc Grabham has seen the 20 year-old enter his first Wildwood Rock Extreme.
Grabham, who has enjoyed a stellar year of racing in 2014 is aiming at new heights when he takes on his first-ever extreme enduro event aboard a 2015-model Sherco 300SE-R. Undaunted by inexperience, Grabham took the outright win at the Yellow Mountain cross country earlier this year in his very first outing at the event.
Grabham’s wrap-sheet for 2014 includes second place in the Australian Off-Road Championship Under-19 class and 14th outright, 10th outright at the Hattah Desert Race and an undefeated run at the NSW Off-Road Championship in the under-19 class which also placed him third outright. It’s Broc’s tenacity for racing and his good results that encouraged Sherco Motorcycles Australia to offer the Bathurst flyer their 300cc two-stroke for the upcoming Wildwood Rock Extreme.
“Broc is fast and he just loves to race. He has incredible skill and loads of potential as a racer so we’re more than excited to get behind his racing,” explained Sherco Motorcycles Australia’s Brand Manager Stephen Tuff.
“Wildwood is a tough event for sure. It’s technical and physically demanding but Broc and the 300SE-R will make a good combination.”
Despite never laying eyes on the daunting Wildwood circuit before, Grabham is approaching the event with an open mind.
“I don’t really know how I’ll go but I’m excited to be riding the new 300SE-R,” Grabham said from his home in Bathurst.
“I haven’t raced a two-stroke since my junior days. I’m really looking forward to racing the faster guys and the international riders just to see where I finish up against them. I plan to just remain smooth and minimise the risks and mistakes which should see me finish inside the top five.”
The 2014 Bulk Nutrients Wildwood Rock Extreme enduro is on Sunday, November 23 at 227 Feehans Road, Wildwood, Vic. The actions tarts at 9.00am with racing underway at 11.00am.
